The Norse team is a well rounded team you've got a bit of strength and some good blockers (with a "block" skill) and they're above average in overall team speed. Big Al is playing his favorite Wood Elf team.įor those that don't know Blood Bowl, it's fantasy "football" (more like rugby IMO) with fantasy characters/races and unlike American football, it can get bloody.and deadly. I'm playing with a Norse team, the "74 Dalir Audhumlaboys", formed and named after the team/year that I watched as a kid- the 1974 Dallas Cowboys. I'm thinking of starting up another season of the VABBL (VASSAL Blood Bowl League) so if anybody's interested, let me know. I just wanted to show how crazy this game can get and to showcase the VASSAL module a bit. Complete (and easy) instructions are on the site at: Ok, so I've had the Blood Bowl bug bite again and have started up a VASSAL Pbem game with my brother "Big Al".

There's also a collection of logs from a game that I played in last years tournament that will give you an idea of how to use the thing. Dodging away is better than a 1 die block, but a 2 die block is better than dodge. For anybody interested in getting the module and learning how to use it, visit the simple little website that I made that has those details. You can survive with one WD early in team development. WE have a good passing game, with a thrower. In old BB, your could put a lineelf in the back, make a quick pass for a quick SPP with a reasonable chance of success. Your catchers and WDs will get them naturally, but when you can get a lineelf SPPs to get dodge or wrestle, their survivability goes up tremendously.ĭo not pass until you get a thrower. Try to keep enough money on hand to replace a WD.Įarly on in team development, feed your lineelves TDs. If a line elf dies, a journeyelf is not a problem. Also, it does not matter if it takes root, that just means there is an area your opponent will avoid after play starts. Opponents love to focus it, and that means they are not focusing on other players. Any input is appreciated.įirst off, in team construction grab a tree man. I still really like BB and wood elves are a tier 1 team that seem like a lot of potential fun, but I cannot wrap my head around them. So I'm going into the playoffs with a bunch of linemen, a crippled catcher, a rookie thrower and a pretty stock wardancer.Īre wood elves considered an unforgiving team? Was it just an unlucky season ( my friends have joked that most of my casualties came from failed Dodges out of tackle zones). Also lost two other guys after using an apothecary. Last nights game (last game if regular season before a playoff bracket) my catcher takes a major injury and is -1 MA. By the third game I was running four journeymen due to deaths.Ī few more games and Ive bought a thrower and an apothecary.

In the first game, one wardancer died to a really bad leap roll.

I've read a little bit on strategy so I'm trying to dodge out of tackle zones and work the ball. I'm fielding two wardancers, a catcher and a bunch of linemen. So I'm playing Wood Elves in a league with my buddies, all new players.
